The evening is comprised of the visionfest Award presentation, other award presentations and a screening of a shorts program all followed by a huge party in the DGA lobby.

The visionfest Award recognizes established filmmakers whose body of work reflects a commitment to true artistic visionfest and a distinctive passion for the possibilities of cinema. Past recipients include Alexander Payne, Allison Anders, Wim Wenders, Mike Figgis, Terry Gilliam and David O. Russell. The event draws a crowd of filmmakers, film lovers, industry professionals, celebrities and media.

After the visionfest Award presentation, the winner of the Los Angeles Short Filmmaking Competition will be introduced followed by a screening of the best short films produced through the Filmmakers Alliance in the previous year.

Filmmakers Alliance is a community of film artists bound by a commitment to realize the full creative potential of independent film. FA supports its members in bringing humanity, authenticity, diversity, originality, intelligence, relevance, personal visionfest and emotional resonance to American Cinema.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of this event.
